The Stone in the Road

A stone sat in the middle of the road. The farmer walked around it. "Not my problem," he said. The teacher walked around it. "Someone should move it," she said. The baker walked around it. "It has been there for weeks," he said. Then a small girl came. She put down her bag and pushed the stone. It did not move. She pushed again. It moved a little. The baker saw her. He came back and pushed too. The teacher saw them. She pushed too. The farmer saw all three. He pushed too, and the stone rolled away. Under the stone, there was a small bag of coins with a note: "For the one who moves the stone." The girl took one coin and gave the rest to the others. "Everyone pushed," she said.
